Tsvetnye Metally

The March issue of Tsvetnye Metally features selected articles contributed by Kola Mining & Metallurgical Company. The opening article of the section examines the issue of streamlining of production processes at the functioning facilities by considering the case study of Kola MMC’s concentrator plant. The paper describes the results of pilot tests and commercial application of the modified concentration scheme. Optimization of the grinding and flotation circuits is based on preliminary studies of resultant process changes. The paper authored by Kola MMC’s Science and Technology Library describes the performance of this division amid evolving information environment.

Of interest is an article published in the Economics and Management of Production section, which is also an opening article of the current issue. The focus of the paper is on the problem of digitalization and the use of digital technology for training mining and metallurgical personnel, which is of relevance today.

Noteworthy is an article published in the Noble Metals and Alloys section. The article is a summary of the first year performance of the Pokrovsk Pressure Oxidation Hub designed to recover gold from refractory sulphide concentrates by sorption cyanidation following pre-oxidation in the autoclave. The design capacity of the autoclaves was reached in the first months of operation. The authors describe the main equipment, the issues that occurred during the start-up, as well as the efficient solutions that were found.

The article about extraction of rhodium from multicomponent chloride solutions by sorption, published in the Rare Metals, Semiconductors section, is also worth the reader’s attention. And it is not only because the price for this metal has risen significantly at the global market, but also because today precious and rare metals constitute one of the most knowledge-intensive areas in non-ferrous metallurgy.
