The May 2020 Issue of Mining Journal opens with an article to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Written by the fellows of the Saint-Petersburg Mining University, the article describes heroic labor and deeds of Mining Engineer Smorodin S.S. towards the Victory.
In the Economy, Organization and Management Section, readers might be attracted by Professor E.A. Kuklina’s article ‘Innovative Activities in Russia’s Oil and Gas Sector as a Key Factor of the Arctic Development Program Implementation’. This is an analysis of structure of the oil and gas industry in Russia and an identification of potential avenues of innovation activities for oil and gas companies in the Arctic zone. It is proposed to stimulate efficiency of production in Russia’s oil and gas sector by means of creation of a virtual branch-wise innovation cluster.
Mining and environmental practitioners might be certainly tempted by Orenburg scientists’ studies into the potentiality of artificial groundwater replenishment in the mining areas of the South Urals and Transurals. This approach can conduce to water quality improvement.
In the Training of Personnel Section, the team of co-authors from NUST MISIS reviews the system of student services meant to create favorable environment for trainees to handle wide range of problems, based on the available experience of Russian and foreign universities.
Other specialized articles in this issue will also be helpful to readers in their theoretical and practical activities.
