Chernye Metally
The March issue contains six main sections: Ore beneficiation, Steel production and continuous casting, Rolling and other metal forming processes, Metallurgy and metallography, Recycling and ecology, From the history of metallurgy.
The first section is devoted to the complex processing of phosphorous iron ores. The expediency of using ferrophosphorus as a means of enriching poor phosphate slags with phosphorus is shown, which allows to increase the through-extraction of metal from phosphorous iron ores and to obtain on their basis multi-purpose chemical products without complicating the technology of converter smelting.
In the section Steel production and continuous casting it is possible to single out the material of practical interest and offering the description of the developed automatic installation with the sensorless electric drive, feeding a slag-forming mix in the mold of a continuous casting machine. The introduction of a sensorless electric drive will increase the reliability of the entire system and reduce its weight and size.
The section Recycling and ecology presents an analysis of data confirming that the moisture contained in the environment affects the formation of defects in steel and the metal products yield.
A significant difference in the yield for different groups of steel grades on days without downfall, with downfall and during the day after rain is shown. The quantitative dependence of the yield at the enterprise on the number of days per year with coarse downfall (rain, snow) and the uneven distribution of this downfall over the year is established. It is concluded that, if the climatic factor is taken into account when forming the strategy of metallurgy development in the country, it is possible to achieve a greater effect on economic development compared to other countries that do not take this factor into account.
The second part of the article devoted to the branch science of the tank industry during the war years and its contribution to the solution of problems of engineering and technical optimization of armor production in 1941–1945 concludes the issue. The first part was published in № 10 for 2020.
