Tsvetnye Metally

The opening article of Issue no. 8 of Tsvetnye Metally traditionally includes an international review of the non-ferrous metals market.

The Beneficiation section features an article that examines optimized regimes of nepheline flotation using stockpiled apatite-nepheline processing waste (the Khibiny deposits).

The Light Metals, Carbon Materials section features an article that looks at recycling of alumina-containing sweepings for use in primary aluminium production.

The articles published in the Rare Metals, Semiconductors section cover such topics as recovery of rhodium and scandium from various raw materials, processing of quartz-leucoxene concentrate, dissolution of iridium powders, distribution of niobium and vanadium in titanium tetrachloride production middlings.

The authors of the paper titled A Hybrid Method for Producing Functional Aluminium-Matrix Composites describe an innovative synthesis technique that ensures the required properties in a composite material.

Authors from the Pacific National University in Khabarovsk describe their findings concerning the structure, segregation and properties (hardness HRA, microhardness HV) of high-alloy Al – Ti – V – Ni alloys.

In their article titled Melt Sampling for Hydrogen Analysis Optimized with the Help of Computer Simulation, the authors from the Siberian Federal University and the National University of Science and Technology MISiS describe a new mould design that delivers an additional advantage when sampling liquid metal and helps determine the concentration of dissolved hydrogen in molten aluminium with a higher degree of accuracy.

The Metal Processing section features an article that looks at the efficiency of roll lubrication when rolling AD33 aluminium alloy bands in an industrial twin mill 175×300.

This issue also presents some recent developments made by Soyuztsvetmetavtomatika JSC.

This July, S. V. Mamyachenkov celebrated his 60th birthday. His students, friends and colleagues, as well as members of Tsvetnye Metally’s editorial board and editorial office give their warm birthday regards and wish him good health, personal success, prosperity and new professional achievements!
