Chernye Metally
The "Chernye Metally" journal No. 10-2022 has been published, which is mainly dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the chair for Metallurgical Technologies of the Nizhny Tagil Technological Institute (branch) of UrFU. The section contains joint research by scientists from the institute and specialists from the Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works. The presented publications cover the issues of obtaining naturally alloyed steel in the process of reduction melting without carburization, using of steel converter slag in the iron flux charge during iron smelting in order to reduce CO2 emissions, changing in the design of the RH degasser inlet pipe in order to increase the thickness of the refractory lining, as well as mastering the production of large-sized I-beams in the conditions of EVRAZ "NTMK".
In the section “Preparation of Raw Materials”, specialists from St. Petersburg Mining University reviewed the process of production of semi-coke from oil shale of the Leningrad deposit.
In the publication of the section "Foundry", scientists from the Volgograd State Technical University studied the effect of adding pyrolytic carbon to the sand-liquid-glass mixture in order to improve the knock-out of casting molds when producing castings from steel and cast iron.
The section "Metal science and physics of metals" is noteworthy. Specialists from Nosov MSTU informed about the features of the formation of the 08Yu steel structure during asymmetric rolling. Also in the section is a publication on application of the computer simulation method in order to select the optimal chemical composition in a given range of impact strength values, and an article on the study of the microstructure and mechanical properties of welded joints with a thickness of 122 mm from thick steel.
In the section "Ecology", the works of specialists on the introduction of a boundary carbon correction mechanism and its impact on the metallurgical industry, as well as on the use of atomic emission spectroscopy to determine the chemical composition of steelmaking wastes are published.
The issue also presents publications in traditional sections "Rolling and other metal forming processes", "Organization of production and economics", "Power Engineering" and "Machine-building technologies".
