Gornyi Zhurnal
The November 2022 (No. 11) issue of Gornyi Zhurnal offers articles which cover various topics on the industrial know-how and basic research in mining.
The issue opens with a selection of articles which illustrate education and research activities of the Belgorod State University.
The traditional sections of the Journal present special-purpose articles about R&D in various fields of mining.
The section Training of Personnel offers a discussion on the intercommunion between the engineering sciences and philosophy, an argument on the current problems in engineering education and an opinion on the need for drastically new approaches to engineering education.
The articles in the section Toward the 200th Anniversary of Gornyi Zhurnal tell about the creative and productive activity of the outstanding Kazakh scientist, public man and a mining practice manager O. A. Baikonurov, as well as about the life and work of mining engineer and scientist I. A. Korzukhin—the author of the first domestic monograph on mechanical treatment (beneficiation) of minerals published in 1907. Another interesting article is about the life and original creativity of great Ural’s author D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak; it presents some facts connected with the period when he created his famous novel Mountain Nest that directly relates with the subject of our Journal.
Gornyi Zhurnal keeps on informing the mining engineering community about the conferences in science and technology. In particular, this issue reviews the outcomes of the conferences on Current Problems in Integrated and Advanced Processing of Natural and Manmade Minerals (Plaksin’s Lectures–2022), Ecological Aspects of Mining and Processing Industries, and on Rockburst Hazard Prediction and Prevention in Mining, which were held in September and October of this year.
