The 10-th issue of Gornyi Zhurnal (Mining Journal) (October, 2012) is devoted to the 50-th anniversary of Kovdor Ore Dressing and Processing Enterprise.
Kovdor Ore Dressing and Processing Enterprise is the successful example of the efficient complex usage of multicomponent mineral raw materials and their concentration, on the basis of modern technologies and equipment, with the production of high-quality iron-ore, apatite and baddeleyte concentrates, which are in demand on the global market.
For the 50 years of operating activity, Kovdor Ore Dressing and Processing Enterprise has reached the following indices:
-over 580 mln. t of ore were extracted and processed from the main open pit;
-near 60 mln. t of sands were extracted and processed from the anthropogenic deposit;
-near 430 mln. m3 of overburden rocks were developed and delivered to dumps;
-the total extraction of rock mass from the main open pit was near 580 mln m3;
-more than 210 mln. t of iron ore concentrate, near 57 mln. t of apatite concentrate and 150 th. t of baddeleyte concentrate were produced and delivered to the consumers.
Kovdor Ore Dressing and Processing Enterprise is not only the city forming enterprise and the basic taxpayer. This enterprise also consists of the socially oriented employees, which constantly take care of the settlements improvement of Kovdor citizens and lends the invaluable assistance and support to Kovdor region both by social investments, and by the direct participation in the scope of public health, education, culture and sports.
This issue consists of 25 articles, which were divided into seven sections. These articles share the information about the status of mineral raw material base; the development prospects of mining and processing production stages, etc. Readers can also get some information about the realized and planned investment projects of environmental protection activities of enterprise in the sphere of complex and rational usage of natural and anthropogenic mineral raw materials.
