Abstract
Since oxidation of carbon is the primary chemical reaction in all steel making processes, steel makers are faced with the challenge of finding ways to reduce CO2 emission without seriously undermining process efficiency. This paper describes the development of process optimization technology for both electric and oxygen steel making that is designed to simultaneously improve productivity, reduce operating costs and lower GHG emissions.
