The state of economy of the CIS countries by the end of 2011 was analyzed on the basis of the data of Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS, national statistical services of the CIS countries, materials of the Bulletin of Foreign Commercial Information and industrial publications.
The data about the status of non-ferrous metallurgy in mining and metallurgical complex of the CIS are given, considering the CIS in whole, and individual countries of the CIS.
Concerning the production of the basic non-ferrous metals in the CIS countries in 2011, there should be noted the insignificant growth (within 2–4 %) of refined copper, nickel, zinc and lead.
Enterprises of non-ferrous metallurgy occupy a notable place in the economy of almost all CIS countries, expert Belarus and Moldova. Nowadays, there are being discussed the plans of creation of enterprises of non-ferrous metallurgy in Turkmenistan. The segment of non-ferrous metals industry is represented in Russia by more than 500 enterprises, associated with extraction and processing of ore, production of non-ferrous, noble and rare metals, and with a wide range of rolled products, based on the foregoing metals. The state of non-ferrous metals industry is generally in line with the global tendencies. There is expected the continuing of the positive dynamics of development.
