Abstract

The costs of stowing operations in the cost price of ore extraction account 11–13%. Meanwhile, the share of binding accounts 40–60% of all production costs of stowing material. There is described an important scientific and practical issue, which requires an urgent solution. This issue is represented by the improvement of technologies of stowing operations, which are being held during the underground mining of uranium deposits on the basis of usage of extraction and processing wastes of uranium ores into the stowing, taking into account the definition of radon release in the process of utilization of these wastes. Underground mining of uranium deposits provides the increasing of life safety in uranium mining region and reduction of costs. There are given the results of investigations of the properties of stowing mixtures, using the hydrometallurgical plant tailings, formed as a result of the primary processing of uranium ores, slag and cement bindings. These investigations were held for the purpose of filling of developed space of uranium mines, on the basis of 49 compositions of stowing mixtures, including 9 compositions with binding cement and filler – neutralized tailings of hydrometallurgical plant. There are given the following basic prospective directions of further researches for application of primary processing wastes of uranium ores in the solid stowing:
-definition of the parameters of leachability of natural radionuclides (238U, 230Th, 226Ra, 210Po, 210Pb, 40Ka) from stowing materials by mine and underground waters;
-preparation and carrying out of pilot works, related to filling of developed space with stowingт mixture on the basis of hydrometallurgical plant tailings for the development of stowing technology;
-development of normative and methodical documents on usage of low-active tailings of hydrometallurgical plant into solid mixture for explanation of radiation safe stowing technology;
-compiling of instruction for the technology of preparation and delivery of solid mixture into the developed space of mine, using the tailings of hydrometallurgical plant.
Scientific and practical results were obtained during the implementation of the following scientific and research works:
-“Research and development of technology and recipes of solid mixtures from the tailings of hydrometallurgical plant-2 for filling of surface storehouses (No. GR 0108U008936)»;
-«Researches of stress state of rock massif, inclined to the appearance of rock pressure, estimation of steadiness of cells and substantiation of their safe parameters at mines of Eastern Ore Dressing and Processing Enterprise «VostGOK» (No. GR 0105U001957)».
