Abstract

Owing to the scientific and practical guidance of Academician I. N. Fridlyander, Russia has a priority in development and application of lower density and higher rigidity Al – Li alloys (especially superlight 1420 alloy (2,47 g/sm3) of Al – Mg – Li system). This priority certainly stimulated foreign investigations in this field. This article gives a description of basic structural peculiarities and properties of sheets of technological mediumstrength (σв ~ 440 MPа) long life 1441T1 (11441Т1) aluminium — lithium alloy of Al – Cu – Mg – Li system. This alloy has lower density (d = 2,6 g/cм3), in comparison with these indices of basic long life traditional D16chT (Д16чТ) and 1163T (1163Т) alloys. The 1441T1 alloy belongs to the second alloy generation. Nowadays, the cold rolling coiled method is used for manufacturing of 1441 alloy sheets with different surface cladding: two-side normal A (ATspl (АЦпл) alloy), hard (АD33 (АД33) alloy), restricted (R (P)) and technological (B (Б)), one-side normal (A (A)) and unclad. The 1441T1 alloy sheet parts (t = 0.8–2.0 mm) are used for manufacturing and exploitation of such components as skins, walls and restrained stringers in Be-200 amphibian aircraft and in Be-103 light aircraft. Taking into account the selected protection coating systems, 1441 alloy (in the form of rolled and extruded semi-finished products) operated successfully during its long service life. For the first time in aircraft practice, hybrid SIAL (СИАЛ — fiberglass plastic and aluminium) laminates (on the basis of 1441T1 sheets with 0.5 mm thickness) are used and exploited as lighting protecting panels of fuel tanks in Be-103 aircraft. There are given the main properties of SIAL-1441 laminates, including resistance of fatigue crack growth in corrosion medium and water sorption kinetics.
