Abstract | This article describes the achievements in the field of highstrength alloys (UTS = 500–700 MPa) of traditional Al – Zn – Mg – Cu-system. These alloys were developed and produced under the scientific guidance of аcademician I. N. Fridlyander. There is shown the important regularity of change of a combination of properties (mechanical, fatigue and corrosion), depending on the content of main alloying Cu and Zn elements. Efficiency of small additives of transition elements-antirecrystallizers, is shown along with the role of Zr addition (subgrain hardening, increasing of hardenability and plasticity), which was established in the world practice for the first time. The limits of Zr addition content are also shown for the purpose of avoiding of appearance of excessive ZrAl3 inclusions. Three groups of high-strength and ultra-highstrength aluminium wrought alloys are described along with their application in aviation and nuclear engineering. The main high-strength V95 (В95) alloys (σв = 500 MPa) are included in the first group because of their widely usage in modern aviation structures. In 1970–1980-s, the properties of these alloys (especially fracture toughness and corrosion resistance) were cardinally improved as a result of impurity content restriction and introduction of multi-step aging (T2, T3), according to the damage-tolerance design concept. Nowadays, the ultra-high-strength (σв = 600 MPa) V96ts-3pch (В96ц-3пч) alloys are mastered in aviation structures (for example, for upper skin of wing). More strength (σв = 650 MPa) V96ts (В96ц) alloy is used for the gas centrifuges in nuclear engineering. High-strength forgeable V93 (В93) and 1933 (high fracture toughness) alloys are related to the important group for load bearing inner elements (fittings, spars etc.). |
