Abstract | Alumosilicate raw materials are anthropogenic wastes, extracted from the depths independently or as an accompanying component of apatite-nepheline ores. These materials are one of primary sources of aluminum industry. Industrial processing of alumosilicate raw materials by alumina sintering method production is connected with high power consumption, which finally has a negative impact on its cost in comparison with bauxites’ processing by the Bayer process. There are given the methods of processing of alkali alumosilicate materials in the directions of increasing of complexity of its usage, direct reduction of raw materials by electrometallurgical way and hydrometallurgical processing. These methods have the following common trends: reduction of energy consumption; flexibility of technological schemes; possibility of inclusion of low-quality raw materials and industrial wastes into processing; minimization of negative impacts on environment. Comprehensive approach to aluminum recycling makes possible to obtain certain highly liquid products: initial components for catalysts and sorbents; oxides and hydroxides of non-metallurgical purpose aluminum; coagulants of varying quality and range. Electrometallurgical method (alternative method to sintering) allows both reduction of alumina production energy costs by not less than 20% and reduction of emissions into environment. Hydrochemical methods allow the reduction of fuel consumption for technological needs by more than a half, and reduction of its total consumption by 20–30%, in comparison with sintering technology. Hydrochemical method, mostly prepared for industrial use, is based on interaction of aluminum material with caustic alkali liquor and lime in autoclave conditions at the temperatures above 300 ºC. As result of interaction, the silicon cations are bind to complex hydrosilicates of alkali metals and calcium. The considerably investigated modifi cations can reduce the cost of obtained alumina signifi cantly, and expand the range of raw materials, which can be involved in recycling. |
