Abstract | For the purpose of determination of rational parameters of horizontal converter, there was studied the hydrodynamics of its liquid bath with blast by air stream blowing on cold physical model. The study of equilibrium conditions in gas jet bubbling zone allowed to establish the basic types of power influences, which determine its distribution in liquid bath, associated with weight above the liquid feed blast friction forces of bubble gas jets and buoyancy forces. On the basis of analysis of structural features of technological unit, there was made a definition that a range of specific area of unsteady motion of gas and liquid media can be found in the time of bubbling solution mass, using multi-nozzle nose-piece. Visual studies of characteristics of peculiarities of blasting process in two-phase medium made possible to determine its development conditions. There were statistically defined the peculiarities of bubble and pulsation mechanism of development of jet process, which make possible to form three basic active areas of gas-liquid emulsion circulation : two areas above the input stream and one below it. These areas define the conditions for development of heat and mass transfer processes in the bath. Biphasic moving jet flow is formed in the bath, when excess gas pressure is over (1,2–1,5) · 105 N/m2. This flow is formed with turbulent boundary layer, pulsating in wide spectrum, and formation of gas emission zone on the bath surface. There were defined the main geometric parameters, describing the patterns of development and circulation zones and jet process at the value of Mach numbers of less than 1.0. |
