The Belgorod National Research University (Russia) educates geologists and mining engineers. Aiming at educational and professional improvement, it is of the utmost importance to train the mentioned specialists abroad, in particular, in Germany engaged in cooperation with Russia in the areas of geology and mining for a few centuries. The Belgorod National Research University has entered an agreement with the oldest university in Germany, the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (TU Bergakademie Freiberg), on partnership in training of specialists for geological agencies and mining plants. The contemplated cooperation includes common education planning, student and postgraduate exchange, lecturer probation, double diploma, team research work on topical problems in geology and mining. The Russia–Germany cooperation in the area of higher education in mining and geology is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Sponsors Association for Science in Germany and Ministry for Science and Culture of Low Saxony.
