Efficient units and innovative control systems are the factors of successive development of the iron and steel industry. Permanently increased requirements to process optimization, creation of innovative products and meeting the limits of ecological standards presents serious challenges. This publication is devoted to several innovative technologies that are planning to be put in the practice in 2014. The first example is expansion of cokemaking at the plant of Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann GmbH in Duisburg; it will be help the company to increase its annual coke production up to 2.3 mln. t. The second case is modernization of three-roll reducing and sizing rolling block at Georgsmarienhütte GmbH; equipment has been supplied by Friedrich Kocks GmbH & KG. Special Size Control System (SCS) provides on-line keeping optimal technological parameters of the block and hold stable and reproducible quality of rolled products. Then, application of hose filter in sintering line of the Ijmuiden plant of Tata Steel Ijmuiden BV has been made on behalf of the Netherlands government; At last, new forging production facilities of Saarschmiede GmbH Freiformschmiede in Völklingen due to necessity of optimal use of semiproducts from previously expanded electric steelmaking shop. At present time, the new technological chain unites all facilities from melting and forging to heat treatment and mechanical processing.
