Abstract | ArcelorMittal, the largest steel producer, considers Europe as the center of its global activity. Lakshmi Mittal has told in his interview to the French business newspaper “Les Echos” that 35–40 % of the metallurgical works of this corporation are located in Europe. Wim van Gerven has reported also that 46 % of produced steel is manufactured at 400 European production sites with new organizing structure. E.g. the plants in Bremen, Dűnnkirchen (Dunkirk) and Florange will be included in the Flat Rolled Products department for North Europe. The problem of restrictions for carbon dioxide emissions is also observed. It is reported that automotive industry is one of the most important markets for this company. |
