Abstract | This work was accomplished with participation of N. K. Tukhvatullin, Category I Expert, Center for Geodynamic Safety, Polar Division of PJSC “MMC “NORILSK NICKEL”. The article describes the research and the related recommendations on support of man-made cyclopean concrete masses exposed by mining, for the rock-burst hazardous conditions of the Talnakh and Oktyabrsky deposits featuring block structure, faulting, well-developed joint systems and multiaxial stress–strain state. The authors give characteristics of rock piles inevitably resulting from rock falls, their structure (size distribution of rock fragments), shapes and volumes depending on geological, geomechanical and technical factors. On this basis, using the in-situ observation and lab testing data, the properties and conditions are determined for cyclopean concrete backfilling by means of feeding solidifying backfill underneath fallen-in rock piles. Criteria and estimation procedure for quality of cyclopean concrete mass are offered. In order to ensure strength and stability of cyclopean concrete surface exposed by mining, it is recommended to use chemical additives (plastifiers) in solidifying backfill mixtures and to employ various type support (rock bolts, special steel frame support, roof bracing). |
