Abstract |
There was investigated the composition of zinc-containing dusts of hightemperature copper-smelting production stages: zinc reverberatory smelting dust-sublimates and converter dust-sublimates (dusty material, which partial size does not exceed several microns). Mass ratio of Zn, Cu, Fe and Pb in zinc reverberatory smelting dust-sublimates is approximately equal. Sulphate, oxide and ferrite formers of Zn make 70.0, 19.8 and 10.1%, respectively, at a total element content of 11.5%, when converted into metal. The average diameter of particles is 1.17 microns. The basic elements in converter dust-sublimates are Zn and Pb in sulfate and oxide form. Moreover, these sublimates contain small amounts of Cu (mainly in oxide form) and Cd (mainly in sulfate and oxide form). Average diameter of converter dust-sublimate particles is 0.2 micron. The process of sulfuric acid leaching of zinc reverberatory smelting dustsublimates was investigated, and its optimal parameters were defined. Maximum extraction of Zn from zinc reverberatory smelting dust-sublimates is reached by leaching with hyperstoichiometric amount of sulfuric acid with the temperature of 20 оC during 40–60 min. The possibility of complex recycling of zinc reverberatory smelting dust-sublimates and converter dustsublimates was defined for the purpose of reduction of As concentration in process liquor. Depending on concentration of sulfuric acid, used for leaching of zinc reverberatory smelting dust-sublimates, Zn concentration in product solution is 92–110 g/l. There was developed the scheme of dust-sublimate recycling with obtaining of zinc white by two-stage leaching, zinc sulfate purification from impurities, sedimentation of basic zinc carbonate and its calcination. |
