Iron and steel researches undertaken in the Max-Planck-Institutein Düsseldorf and aimed on creation of high-tech materials are presented. Development of steels with special properties, with reasonable combination of strength and brittleness are described. Manganese, silicon and aluminium were used as alloying elements for TWIP/TRIP steels, and their stress and elongation tests have displayed excellent results. Such innovative steels can be applied in automotive industry, in medicine and in power engineering.
