Lightweight constructions in automotive building are rather actual for automobile producers and suppliers. New developments in this field have been discussed at the international conference «Steel in Cars and Trucks». It is concluded that steel remains to be the most important construction material for automotive industry, because modern cars and trucks consists of steel alloys in average more than by 50 %. Steel demonstrates optimal technological properties in many areas and is characterized by high efficiency, resource-saving and ecological safety.
