Sheet production consists of several steps, some of them are mostly not connected directly with each other, but separated by operations of storage and transportation. In this connection, the risk of confusion during coils transition from one technological stage to another appears. To avoid this danger, the method based on the results of measurements has been developed; it identifies unmistakably the coils according to their geometric parameters (such as thickness and width), in the same way as by human fingerprint. The developed ibaDatawizer-ICC software is a tool for automatic coil identification with timely determination of violations and sending signal for taking corresponding measures. Thereby, it is possible to block the coils that were manufactured incorrectly, until they are marked. This program can be easily incorporated in the existing iba infrastructure. The industrial tests have been undertaken in production conditions and their results have confirmed strict necessity of control of coils tracking.
