Реферат | In previous years, productivity was the main focus for the steel industry and steel producers who were output-oriented. The market downturn forced the industry to improve equipment effi ciency: steel producers became cost-oriented. Additionally, many countries are implementing new rules and regulations concerning energy effiсiency, CO2 emissions and hazardous off-gas emissions. Fore these reasons, Mexican producer Talleres y Aceros S.A. De C.V. (Tyasa) choose a mini-mill solution from Primetals Technologies built around a newly developed EAF Quantum. The introduction by Primetals Technologies of the EAF Quantum furnace in this paper represents an important milestone in the fi eld of electric steelmaking during the last 15 years. In this process the latent and chemical heat of the off-gas generated during a melting process in an EAF is used to pre-heat scrap in an integrated shaft prior to melting of the scrap in the vessel. Additionally, safety improvements can be claimed to to the possibility of full automation and no crane movements in the furnace area which reduces danger from moving loads. |
