The metallurgical company Rizhao Steel, operating in the east part of China, has met the problems in the saturated market of metal products and decided to put into practice the new Arvedi ESP (Endless Steel Production) technology. Five casting and rolling lines with total annual capacity 11.05 mln. t have been built by Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH since 2013. Dimension range of producing strip makes width 900–1,600 mm (3 lines) and 900–1.300 mm (2 lines) with minimal thickness 0.8 mm. Production technology includes induction heating and laminar cooling. General layout of production facilities, operation experience of continuous casters, induction furnaces, rolling mills as well as cooling bed and coilers are observed. Steel grades range includes steels with extra low carbon content as well as high-strebgth low-alloyed (HSLA) and dual-phase steels. Final products manufactured at Arvedi ESP line is characterized by high quality meeting the requirements of strip geometry and flatness. These products are subjected to cold rolling to receive steel products for automotive industry. High stability of the technological process finalizes in yield ration 98%.
