Abstract | The continuous casting unit No. 1 has been successfully put into operation in October 2014 at the Duisburg-Beckerwerth plant of Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe (TKSE). It was a result of modernization successfully conducted by SMS group. This continuous caster has become the base for production of different steel grades, including advanced high strength steels (AHSS), extra low-carbon steels, IF-steels and steels with increased and high Mn content. At present time, the customer has possibility to supply high-quality billets for consequent rolling to the market (especially for automotive industry). This continuous caster is scheduled for production of slabs with width 1000–2150 mm (maximal width increased by 290 mm) and with thickness remained 257 mm. However, the caster is calculated and prepared also fo casting of slabs with thickness 350 mm. |
