Abstract |
The history of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) is very interesting, because it is one of the leading global metallurgical enterprises worldwide. The paper presents analysis of its development since the beginning of 1930-ies till today. Strengthening of the metallurgical plant, social composition of its builders and workers are examined. The features of extraordinary activity of MMK in diffi cult conditions of the World War II are observed and efficiency of cooperation and joint working between Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and Magnitogorsk State Technical University (MGTU) are investigated. It is show that establishment of MGTU in 1934 helped to solve successfully the problem of high-skilled personnel preparation and training for MMK and for other metallurgical and mining works. MGTU scientists for many years worked actively to put into practice the most modern innovations, to provide modernization of MMK. In the meantime achievements of metallurgists were closely connected with Magnitogorsk municipal problems: strengthening and development of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works has led to growth of the city and its infrastructure. Changes in the education level of the engineers and workers of MMK are observed, as well as spiritual life of Magnitogorsk citizens. Such typical features of Magnitka people as hard working, scrupulosity, faithfulness for duty, responsibility for results and continuation of traditions are formulated. |
