Abstract | The methodology and test bench developed for the experimentation on impact–abrasive wear of ball mill lining, which is typical of mills operating in the cascade mode, are described. The results of the experimental research into the effect of work hardening on the wear resistance of lining made of 110G13L steel with the initial hardness of 180 HB under impact–abrasive wear in the course of Khibiny apatite-nepheline ore milling are reported. It has been found that under conditions of impact-abrasive influence on the rock, the steel prehardening reduces the rate of its wear. The relation of the impact-abrasive wear rate and hardness of steel 110G13L after work hardening is obtained. It is shown that the use of the method developed by the authors for surface hardening during ball mill maintenance and repair allows an increase in the service life of the ball mill lining by 1.6 times. |
