Abstract

CMI machine-building company has created innovative service proposal “OPExS” — technical assistance based on technological and production know-how in combination with a software that is friendly for users. Applied to steel strip fabrication, this software can provide the aimed assistance to customers in elimination od the difference between theoretical and purchased know-how, as well as practical process of knowledge transformation in practice. At the first stage the main attention is paid to one- and two-strand lines for steel strip processing. The “OPExS” system allows to optimize equipment operation, to evaluate information from technological stages located previously and to form statistical surveys. Corresponding correcting or preventing measures can be realized just in several minutes after strip coil passing out the production line. Special markers not only indicate the problem source, but also display the required action of an operator. The system can actualize its data base permanently by the new data from conducted operations. Its usage is recognized to be efficient not only for single production lines, but also for combinations of technological equipment including e.g. pickling, galvanizing and annealing.
