Abstract

Rizhao Steel company (China) accelerated its activities for production of ultrathin hot-rolled strip via intensive putting into practice Endless Strip Production (ESP) technology. In 2013 and 2014 the company concluded two contracts with Primetals Technologies for manufacture of five continuous casters; the first three of them are already put into operation with the complete designed productivity, while other two conticasters are planned to start their operation in 2017. The continuous casting shop will provide production of hot-rolled steel strip with thickness to 0.6 mm and width to 1,400 mm. The first testings have confirmed that the new adjustment concept can be realized in these continuous casting machines.
