The new system for measuring of the contour of rolled products has been developed by LAP GmbH company. Its operation principle is based on registration of the complete contour as well as surface and dimension defects of long sections during hot rolling. The system provides selective recognition of those defects that can’t be identified and detected meaning the difference between them by any conventional systems. Thereby the developed system can formulate the concrete recommendations for optimal setting of the rolling stands. Additionally it is able to classify on-line separate and periodical surface defects that previously can be found only by fi nal customer. The complete and exact contour measuring makes it possible to avoid many additional operations connected with sample taking and respectively to cut the expenses substantially.
