Abstract

A sheet or a strip is typically used in the production of cylindrical-shaped semifinished products from non-ferrous wrought alloys, used in various fields of radio electronics, electrical engineering industry for extrusion molding, relief forming or caulking. The main technological operation in manufacturing of these semi-finished products is blanking, which is accompanied by the significant waste generation. However, with the continuous increase in the cost of metal products observed in recent years, the resource-saving problem e.g. (e.g. the economy of the materials) becomes more acute. The present work analyses modern techniques of the production of cylindrical thin sheets from the rolled metal used for stamping. To manufacture the thin-sheet cylindrical workpiece, it is proposed to use the die or shears which cut out the workpiece from the strip or round-rolled products with the diagonal equal to the diameter of the matrix. Then the sectioned workpiece is placed in a cylindrical matrix and subjected to transverse sediment until the semi-finished product is obtained. This work presents the results obtained from the investigations of the innovative, resource-saving and wasteless process of cutting of the volumetric billet from a strip or a rod with the subsequent transverse sediment in the cylindrical matrix. For this process, the physical and mathematical modeling of the shape change and the calculation of the stress-strain state are carried out and the interrelations between the technological and force parameters are established. The theoretical investigation is carried out using the energy method of upper evaluation based on the analysis of the block model at various stages of the transverse sediment of a profiled workpiece in a cylindrical matrix. The experimental verification showed satisfactory convergence of physical and computer simulation results. Based on the results of this study, the recommendations for the use of the innovative process in the industry are developed.
