Abstract | The introduction of the “PIT — Produzieren in Takt” planning mode (production in time) at BGH Edelstahlwerke GmbH during the production and processing of steel has signifi cantly improved the observance of delivery dates. Increased transparency and planning of production processes found a positive response from employees of preparatory and production services. End-to-end planning of production orders from smelting, continuous casting, rolling and heat treatment to adjustage provides the necessary level of planning reliability. Coarse planning based on production capacity verification using the 3-liter production planning system (3liter-PPS) enables to synchronize the production process and provides the aggregates with a real time margin based on the binding weekly cycle. Within the cycle, production orders are executed at their own discretion, which allows to react more flexibly to any changes and failures in the technological process. The implementation of the PIT mode from concept development to the industrial usage took only six months. |
