Abstract |
A new product has been developed: BORAT metal-working coo lant is a 60% aqueous solution with the following composition,% (wt.): monoethanolamine borate — 24, alkyl polyoxyethylene phosphate — 4, gly ceroborate — 12, 1,1′–ethylene–2,2′-dioleyl-bisimidazoline — 20, water — the balance. Concentrate appearance: light yellow; emulsion appearance: translucent color; pH: 8.6–9.2; density at 20 °C (kg/m3): 1012–1108; storage temperature: –20 to +40 ° C. To assess the effectiveness of the coolant, comparative studies of a 3, 4, 5, 6, 7% aqueous solution of this coolant and the NGL-205 5% coolant emulsion with respect to tool life and surface quality during drilling, turning, grinding steels: St. 20, St. 45, 40Kh, 30KhGS, 50KhN. It was established that the most effective coolant compositions of BORAT are its 4, 5 and 6% aqueous solutions, which have superior tool durability and surface finish than the NGL-205 coolant. Industrial tests carried out at the Cheboksary Industrial Tractors Plant (currently the Tractor Plants Concern, Cheboksary) showed that BORAT coolant has a large working resource, high cleaning property and protects the treated parts from corrosion during storage and transportation. The data obtained make it possible to consider BORAT coolant as an effective lubricating and cooling technological means for the mechanical processing of metals and is recommended for the use in operations of edge cutting machining, grinding and possible replacement of traditionally used coolants. |
