The article defines a problem of increasing effectiveness of open pit mining by reducing the operating costs of road transport. The article is based on data on the Chanvin limestone quarry located in Perm region. The increasing of economic efficiency by creating a stationary or mobile reloading point for separating quality limestone from clayey rocks is grounded. Possible positions of the reloading point locations are at the dump, at the crushing and screening plant, and on the border of the quarry. We offer to use a queuing theory to determine an optimal position of the reloading point from listed ones. The algorithm for determining probable states of the transport and handling system with cyclic conjugations of various type dump trucks is designed. The simulation model of traffic in an open pit mine is developed in AnyLogic using the data on a specific quarry. The model includes the dispatching logic to control traffic, the control algorithms are developed for any location and type of the reloading point. The efficiency of the transport and rehandling system is analyzed as a function of the reloading point location. We determined the best position of the reloading point is near the dump. It ensures the increased availability of raw materials in the crushing and screening plant by 28%. The results of the studies are accepted for the introduction at the Chanvin limestone quarry.
