Abstract |
Safe mining and adequacy control of project decision-making on ultimate limits of pit walls and benches requires geomechanical monitoring to be implemented. Traditional geodesy-based monitoring features a time gap between measurements and interpretation results. For this reason, there is always a probability of an accident when the data on strains and their analysis in terms of admissibility are absent. This gap can be bridged using the automated deformation monitoring systems. This article proposes the structure of such system. By the research findings, a pilot automated deformation monitoring system is developed for the Sibai Open Pit Mine. The main safety criteria are based on the determined vertical and horizontal displacements, as well as their rates: safe operation (standard)—to 10 and 20 mm, and to 6 mm/h; potential deformation warning—to 44 and 64 mm, and to 15 mm/h; cessation of operation (hazard)—more than 45 and 65 mm, and more than 15 mm/h. The authors appreciate participation of N. V. Litvinenko and M. F. Tulubaeva in the studies. |
