Abstract

Porous highly heat-resistant materials based on silicon carbide with mullite and cordierite binder have been developed. A comparative analysis of silicon carbide porous materials with ceramic binders based on mullite and cordierite and foreign analogues is carried out. Materials with a compressive strength of 71.3 and 53.1 MPa and porosity of 38.2 and 37.7% for cordierite and mullite binder, respectively, were obtained. Material with cordierite binder has high heat resistance (more than 75 heat transfer), while on mullite - 21 heat transfer. The structure of the filter element allows you to retain dust with particles up to 1 micron. For regeneration of filtering characteristics, pulsed air regeneration is applied at a pressure of 6-8 bar. On the basis of this ceramic, candle filters with a length of 1000 mm and an outer diameter of 60 mm are made, designed for installation on the filtering of hot gases of the modular type FCI-9.8. The unit is suitable for purification of exhaust gases generated during the operation of such metallurgical units as a chamber and circulation vacuum generator, an electric arc furnace, an oxygen converter, a ladle furnace, etc. The estimated payback period of the unit, provided that the recovery module is installed, is about 4.2 of the year. When used together with a recuperator, the flue gas exhaust heat can be used for heating water, heating household premises in the cold season, for quenching furnaces of parts, drying units, etc.
