The paper examines development of the technology and equipment for production of steel seamless large diameter tubes via extrusion. Extruding presses of Cameron company from UK are described, their main deficiencies are revealed. Innovations executed by VNIIMETMASH in the field of designing the extruding complex for production of seamless large diameter tubes are presented. Principally new technological routes for tubemaking and constructions of extruding press are suggested. Manufacture of seamless large diameter tubes via progressive method of hot extrusion in tube pressing complex with heavy-duty press allows to provide needs of such important industrial branch as power engineering.
