Abstract

The withdrawal of foreign suppliers of equipment for industrial automation systems from the Russian Federation has determined the need to find and select affordable solutions on the domestic market. The article describes the
process of selecting suppliers of solutions for automated process control systems in the domestic market in modern conditions. The steps taken by PJSC Norilsk Nickel MMC along this path, as well as the difficulties it has faced, are considered. The necessity of constant monitoring of the market of domestic automation solutions is substantiated and the problems that arise when searching for them are shown. The criteria for selecting the components of the middle and upper levels, which were used at the initial stage of selection and are currently being used, are given. The aspects to be assessed when visiting manufacturers’ production sites are indicated. The programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and SCADA systems currently used in the company are presented. The results of their assessment according to the selected criteria and an analysis of their compliance with the company’s information security requirements are provided. The results of testing both the communication compatibility of selected domestic PLCs and SCADA systems, as well as the compatibility of selected solutions with foreign solutions used by the company, are demonstrated. Compatibility problems of PLCs and SCADA systems, including limitations on the amount of data transmitted, have been identified and described. The results of testing the selected PLCs and the company’s recommendations for achieving technological sovereignty in industrial automation systems are presented.
