Abstract | A lot of activities were undertaken in the last few years to use the parameter velocity as another acting element also in shear cutting processes. In this regard the so-called High Speed Impact Cutting (HSIC) is nowadays and in the future gaining more and more importance in the field of sheet metal forming. This technology is based on the physical phenomenon of “shear band development” and is used in order to achieve a very high quality of the cutting surface, and means burr-free and rectangular cuts. |
