Abstract
The main differences between Consteel and conventional EAF technologies regarding scheduled and unscheduled maintenance practices were analyzed. The study was made on the basis of data collected in plants with high maintenance standards and more than 10 years of operational experience. These data were analyzed and organized in a comparison table where they were associated with the relevant maintenance cost. The comparison shows that the Consteel technology achieves a significant reduction of the overall maintenance cost over the conventional EAF.
