ArticleName | Ecology versus sustainability — relevance for the steel industry |
ArticleAuthor | D. Ameling, G. Endeman, G. Kesseler |
Abstract | Sustainability is “trendy”. But, as long as populism with terms like “carbon neutral” or “GoGreen” are the drivers instead of objectiveness, a sustainable society will still be a dream. The pillars of sustainable behaviour are shown by reflecting the basic principle. Sustainable policies of the steel industry are described with regard to energy, climate and raw material but also to steel grade development and steel usage. A final chapter deals with the disturbance of the sustainable equilibrium by unilateral ecological motivation. |
