Abstract | In the last four decades approximately 40 processes were presented as successors to the classical blast furnace route. All these process developments claimed low consumption figures, the use of untreated raw materials, low environmental impact and last but not least lower capital expenses with regards to the blast furnace. Most of the processes and component developments disappeared after some years of operation. This paper will define the actual state of smelting-reduction processes. |
