Abstract
The paper is devoted to improvement of the technology of casting of large-size forging ingots from high-strength shipbuilding steel. The aim of the work was development and putting into practice the technologies of casting of such ingots at atmospheric pressure in argon media and via uphill casting under slag-forming mixes with metal jet protection from secondary oxidation by argon. Usage of these technologies allows to decrease substantially steel contamination by non-metallic inclusions, to cut secondary metal oxidation, to exclude forming of line oxide inclusions and to rise the level of ductility of rolled products in Z-direction.
keywords Ingot, high-strength shipbuilding steel, heavy plate, non-metallic inclusions, argon, vacuum, uphill casting, ductility of rolled products, secondary oxidation.
