Abstract
The review of the results of investigations undertaken in Russia and connected with the first discoveries of rare earth minerals on the bottom of Pacific ocean, in crusts and basement rocks of underground volcanic mountains (guyots) is presented. Modern conceptions about genesis, composition and concentrations of rare earth minerals and elements are given.
