Internal stresses occur in heating the workpieces with variated chemical composition; they lead to crack forming and propagation. The authors proposed the technique for calculation of internal stresses for the steels subjected to chemical-thermal processing and consequent heat treatment; it allows to reveal the causes of crack forming and the ways of their elimination.
