Abstract | Three-dimensional coordinate measuring systems were successfully introduced into large industrial operations. One of the most important measuring tools for applications that require a high degree of measuring accuracy and volume is the “Lasertracker”. A recently developed, user-friendly measuring software for Lasertracker opens up new possibilities for the usage in the metallurgical industry in the area of the mould and segment workshop. Since 2005 Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH uses laser measurement in its two-strand slab caster No.2 to measure the mould and segment positions within the caster. In combination with the new software a consistently computer-assisted process comes into existence which contributes to improving slab quality and operational reliability. |
