Abstract | As part of an extensive modernization process, ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel GmbH in Bochum, Germany, has introduced a new software system for electrical steel finishing lines. For this purpose a new software program for electrical steel finishing lines was developed that also handled the highly complex process of porting the new system. Thenew software has been running smoothly for one year now, and there have been tangible improvements in maintenance, error analysis and flexibility when compared to the previous system. Strategic vision of the development of this system is observed. Operation features of control, management and automation systems in the electrical strip finishing line are discussed. Visualization of the electric band straightening and architectural components of Celcap system (including different process levels) are shown, as well as visualization of the palletizer PAL1 and high-bay warehouse HRL. At the slitters in Thyssen-Krupp Electrical Steel’s Bochum plant, cold stripis cut into electrical striprings according to production orders and customer specifications. Turnstiles in the buffer and distribution system with material feed from the slitters, singulation and commissioning using high-bay warehouse and palletizer are displayed with their location in the shop. |
