Abstract | In the heavy plate mill of Dillinger Hüttenwerke the measuring system TopPlan is used to inspect and document plate flatness. The system continuously measures the topography along the complete length and width of the plates, thereby enabling a 100-% inspection of the height matrix of the tested plates. Objective measuring sata, measurement principle and possibilities of cutting expenses and quality improvement are observed. The projectors illuminate the measuring area (vertical cones), the cameras (angled cones) film the measuring area. The projector and camera are mounted on adjustmentunits. They can bealigned exactly on the respective measuring areawith the set screws. The height distribution visualized on a monitor is presented in the paper, example of a measurement report is shown. Time wastes for measurement decrease essentially comparing with manual method. Analysis of obtained data allows to send sheets on secondary straightening if required. Archiving of measured data makes it possible to conduct their through scanning. |
