Abstract

In present work the extraction ability and selectivity of neutral organophosphorus reagents based on 1,8-naphtirydine related to extraction of lanthanum(III), neodymium(III), holmium(III) and ytterbium(III) from carbonate media was investigated. Significant impact on the length and structure of linker between naphtirydine and phosphoryl fragments on efficiency and selectivity of the extraction of lanthanides has been stated. Study of extraction of trivalent lanthanides from diluted solutions of nitric acid and carbonate solutions by phosphoryl-containing naphtirydine ligands: 2-[2-(diphenylphosphoryl)ethyl]-1,8-naphtirydine and 2-(diphenylphosphorylamido)-5,7-dimethyl-1,8-naphtirydine in chloroform showed high extraction ability of 2-(Diphenylphosphorylamido)-5,7-dimethyl-1,8-naphtirydine with NH-linker in carbonate media. Maximum process efficiency for this ligand relative to extraction of lanthanum(III) and neodymium(III) has been obtained for 0,1 M sodium carbonate solutions, distribution coefficient reaches values 16–19 (94–95% extraction in one stage). 2-(Diphenylphosphorylamido)-5,7-dimethyl-1,8-naphtirydine also has a certain selectivity relative to the elements of cerium and yttrium subgroups. 2-[2-(Diphenylphosphoryl)ethyl]-1,8-naphtirydine with ethylene linker between naphtirydine and phosphoryl fragments do not extract lanthanides from studied media — distribution coefficient does not exceed 0,25. The change of the linker structure give rise to significant change in extraction efficiency and selectivity of phosphoryl substituted naphtirydine ligands in carbonate and subacid medium.
