Abstract | A review of the current state of the Russian metallurgical industry is given. It is concluded that both ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy are marked by the access to pre-crisis levels. The authors associate further improvements with growth of domestic demand for products of metallurgical industry. It is shown that attraction of investments for enterprises modernization is closely linked with the need to improve productivity. Measures to increase objectiveness of assessments and reliability of forecasts for this figure are outlined. However, it is noted that the current statistics in connection with the transition from the All-Union Classifier of Economy Branches to the All-Russian Classifier of Economic Activities can't completely use the data of interbranch balances. This makes it difficult to create a database to predict the rate of productivity in the steel industry. A way out could be to develop an adequate model for the analysis of this indicator. An important positive factor may be an enhancement of the methodology of socio-economic indicators assessment using the All-Russian Classifier of Economic Activities by creating an information base on key business indicators in general as well as on productivity in particular, and clarifying the “basket” of goods by main activities of metallurgical industry. |
